ECACH runs settlement · the ECCB RTGS makes it final

Settlement with the banks

Customers' payments are final in seconds because each bank prefunds its share of the joint account at the ECCB. Every cycle, ECACH nets what each bank sent and received, sends one batch to the RTGS, and issues a camt.053 statement to every bank.

Latest cycle

Open cycle: who owes whom so far

Left of the line: the bank has sent more than it received (pays in at settlement). Right: it receives. The bars always balance to zero.

Liquidity calls

ECACH asks a bank to add liquidity when its pool share runs low or before a busy period. The call is met automatically when the bank's top-up posts.
